Milan, Soc. Tipografico - Editrice, 1877 .), illustrated frontispiece and 99 color plates, first leaves of the second volume partially detached, rare light foxing, coeval binding in red half morocco with corners and marbled paper, gold title on the spine with 5 bands, slight defects.
The work is complete with plate 6bis (Coat of Arms of the Royal House of Savoy), missing in many examples. Contemporary binding mz. leather, cords, title and gold friezes on the spine.Preceded by a short essay on heraldry and a historical note on the Reigning Houses in Sicily, the volume continues with the "Dictionary of Sicilian Noble Families" giving the origins of each , the history, the families with whom they have degrees of kinship and finally a detailed description of the coat of arms. The plates, drawn in chromolithograph under the direction of the author, contain around two thousand coats of arms of the noble families, of the main cities and of the ruling dynasties.
