Specialist Notes

"Marcello Adriani the Younger, who popularized Plutarch's Opuscoli morali towards the end of the 16th century, held the chair of humanity in Florence. (...) This translation of his earned the praise of everyone who had it in his hands, for the happiness and accuracy with which the original is turned, for the purity of the dictation, and for the noble and elegant simplicity of his frank and naive style. (...)" (from the Letter to the Courteous Reader, p.7).
