Aquila, Tipografia Aternina, 1835. In 8°, vols. 3, pp. XII-248; 228: 271. Contemporary binding mz. leather, gold title on the spine.
Rare original edition. This work, less known than the treatises of Morrocchesi, Gaetano Bazzi, Alamanno Morelli or Gattinelli, is part of the nineteenth-century treatises on the art of acting and analyzes declamation and mimicry . Of great interest is the part reserved for the various gestures of the mouth, eyelashes and eyelids, head and face, cheeks and nostrils, in addition to the gestures chironomic, with relative correlation of meanings attributed to each gesture: grinding your teeth or anger, biting your lips or repressed anger, folding down the corners of your lips or being unaware of something, stretching your index finger over your lips or silence or secrecy, lowered, narrowed eyelashes or hatred, etc. .. The second volume is entirely reserved for the expressive investigation of the declamation-mime combination with the precise analysis of the various feelings and the correct way of expressing them. The last volume contains a historical survey of theatrical art, of the different genres, of mnemonics... See Rivera, Memorie scritt. Aquilani, p. 64.
