Basilea, Peter Perna, 1575. In 4°. Marca xilografica al frontespizio, capilettera incisi in legno, qualche macchia al frontespizio, aloni di umidità marginali, angolo inferiore bianco dell'ultima carta riparato, legatura coeva in pergamena rigida, autore e titolo impressi in oro al dorso, qualche foro di tarlo.
Stampata per la prima volta a Venezia nel 1574, l'opera è considerata il primo tentativo di analisi critica della storia italiana del tardo medioevo. ''Sigonio a l'un des premiers fait de l'érudition une véritable science. Il eut le courage de visiter les archives de toute l'Italie'' (Hoefer).
