Provenance

The model
The Beetle, while remaining true to itself in substance, has seen continuous refinements over the years, sometimes more, sometimes less visible. Externally it changed the shape and size of the rear window, the glass surface, etc. One of the most striking changes occurred in August 1967; for the 1968 model, new and important changes are brought in: the headlights are redesigned, which become round and vertical (modification already introduced the previous year in the United States), larger rear lights, in the shape of an "iron", more modern and robust bumpers; the electrical system is changed from 6 to 12 V. The engines instead remain unchanged: 1200, 1300 and 1500 cm³. And so the "modern" Beetle was born.
The car
Volkswagen 1200 (Typ 11 / D), chassis no. 118186356 is a vehicle registered for the first time in Italy in October 1967 and is therefore one of the first with the radical restyling of the front lights. It comes from the cars chosen for the Saottini Collection. The car is in preserved condition. Substantially healthy in all its aspects, the bodywork is in a good state, though with marks and paintwork to be repaired, still in the original Zenith Blue (L-639). The rims, originally in Cumulus White (L-680), are instead in Zenith Blue / Black, without wheel cups, in a sports livery. The interior is the original mixed fabric and leatherette upholstery in blue. The mechanical parts, with the 1.2-liter engine, is in good condition; maintenance is to be expected. The car is still registered with the Brescia black plates since 1972, has a "page" booklet, certificate of origin of the manufacturer and the first booklet of its service history. It has period accessories:after market front fog lights and reverse light.
State of the art
Body work, interior and mechanics preserved. Good condition, sound vehicle.
