Among the highlights is a large famille rose porcelain plaque, signed and dated 1928 by Wang Qi, one of the greatest Chinese masters of the early 20th century. The scene shows three Taoist deities—Magu, Shoulao, and Liu Hai—symbolizing longevity and good fortune
An extraordinary gilded bronze figure of Avalokiteshvara Ekadashamukha stands out among the bronze pieces on offer. Similar examples can be found in the Beijing Museum and were part of the imperial collections of the Forbidden City; the close similarities with our sculpture suggest it may have a similar, if not identical, provenance.
The auction also boasts a rich selection of porcelain, ranging from the Kangxi period with interesting famille verte pieces, to a small collection of turquoise-glazed "scholar's objects," and extending to the Guangxu period with a white and blue "Shang Ping" vase from the kilns reserved for the imperial family, along with ten Qianjiang blue-ground plaques mounted on wooden panels.
Additionally, two significant Chinese sculptures in red coral will be presented, distinguished by their size and the intricacy of their carving, making them standout pieces in the auction.
Among the paintings, a large canvas by Lu-Ji is noteworthy. Southeast Asia is represented by remarkable silver items, including spice containers, bowls, and enameled figures.
Finally, we are pleased to present a large pair of Japanese Koro, bronze incense burners in the shape of Buddhist lions, which come from the estate of the Princess of Montenevoso, wife of Gabriele D'Annunzio, along with a beautiful Shibayama lacquer box from the Meiji period.
