Literature

See M. Carrera, Giovanni Battista Crema (1883-1964). Divisionism, symbol and reality, Rome 2020, p. 61, fig. 59.

The present work can be related to the paintings created by Crema in 1926 for the Banca Popolare di Ferrara and in particular to the one representing The agricultural trade of the Ferrara area: the style of the tunic is the same as those shown by the female figures at the center of the composition, just as the pose appears very similar to that of the central woman in the Ferrara painting. The artist's typical filamentous painting appears here particularly successful in the rendering of the translucent fabric of the dress and the flowery meadow behind the young woman.
