Information

Villa Paradeisos represents a unique asset situated in the lakes region north of Milan. completely renovated in the last twenty years and enriched with elements from noble residences in France, England and Japan, by contemporary artists. It is in perfect condition and is still inhabited throughout the year.

It faces south with view of Varese’s Lake and a third of the entire chain of the Alp. In recent years, the current owners have added a unique Japanese Garden in Italy. This garden has attracted four of the six Japanese television channels that have filmed it and shown it to over 60 million viewers.

PROPERTY DESCRIPTION

The property is traceable in the Teresian maps (late 1700s) and was rebuilt in the 1800s until the final settlement in the 1920s by the family of the most important local industrial group at the time (breweries, weaving mills, tanneries, farms).

The current owners, Italo - Japanese, took over in 1990 and dedicated four years to the complete renovation of all the technical equipment - heating, fixtures, electrical and safety systems, plumbing systems for the garden and for the pond, bathrooms, kitchens, terraces, floors and ceilings.

The new owners have also added precious decorations and boiseries from French, English and Japanese patrician residences to the property. In particular, the French tapestries of the 1700s, the English Library of the 1700s, the 1700s Presidential Dining Room, the monumental swimming pool and the Fitness area. Additional contributions were made by several artists who integrated the property with their works, among them the Australian sculptor and painter Ron Dudley, the Monegasque painter Jeanine Ricketts, - who decorated a famous church in the Principality of Monaco - l 'eclectic Croatian-Australian painter Charles Billich, artistic director of the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Japanese Garden
For Japanese people, the garden represents the quintessence of their cultural identity, which has remained solid and uncontaminated throughout its millenary history, given that Japan has never had foreign conquests or hybridizations.

In fact, religion, art, the spirit of Japanese civilization, are based on a symbiotic relationship with nature, and "the art of the garden" is the way in which nature is exhibited and represented in a microcosm to which inventions are therefore dedicated, exceptional experience and commitment. For this reason the degree in "garden art" is the longest - 7 years - in Japanese universities, and the examples outside Japan of gardens designed by Japanese masters are very rare: the most recent and significant in Europe being that of Monte Carlo , dedicated by Prince Rainier to his wife Grace, and that of the banker Kahn in Paris.

The owners of Villa Paradeisos, for their ancestry and their love for Japanese culture, have therefore dedicated, about 15 years ago, a particular commitment in the design and construction of this garden. Designed by one of the most famous Garden Art Professors of the University of Tokyo, it was then created by an entirely Japanese team - four gardeners and a foreman - who for the first time left Japan and moved to Varese for three months. Varese (the preparation had actually lasted almost a year), excavating the ground, placing rocks, plants and the two containers of specific materials brought in from Japan - statues, votive ornaments, pebbles from the stream, walking stones, precious essences, artifacts of bamboo etc.

The main layout follows the 5 waterfalls of the stream, whose pebbles and stones have been placed in such a way as to modulate their rustle: the sound of running water is in fact the distinctive sign that identifies the single garden (each one is different), a designated place to the pleasures of the spirit in the aesthetic fusion with nature.

The essences of the garden are largely indigenous to Japan: bamboo, maple, pine, cherry trees, shaped and adapted - like bonsai - by Japanese art and craft experience, to represent the beauty and mystery of intact nature. In spring the stream flows among a flamboyant sparkle of red azaleas, in winter the snow creates magical spaces and profiles, when it rains the dewy foliage and the scents create the maximum charm of this work of art. The stream flows into a large lake surrounded by rocks, where irises, water lilies and the looming pines and cherry trees lie placidly. This garden has attracted the attention and admiration of countless visitors from all over the world, as well as the Japanese media, who have shot many reports and a film there.
