The two reproductions of Baj's work are accompanied by a text: "Sixteen people were killed in a bomb explosion in a Milan bank on 12 December 1969. Among those arrested was the anarchist Piro [ma Pino, or Giuseppe] Pinelli, who was interrogated by the police for four days. On 16 December Pinelli "fell" from the window of the Commissioner Luigi Calabresi’s office on the fourth floor of the Milan plice headquarters. The police stated that he had committed suicide rather than confess. No-one knows what really happened before Pinelli fell to his death. Enrico Baj’s 12-meter wide combination of object and painting "Burial of the anarchist Pinelli", is an impassioned indictment of violence and injustice on the part of official authorities. On the morning of the day on which the exhibition featuring the painting was to be opened in Milan, Luigi Calabresi was murdered by a professional killer. He was officially priased as an exemplary police officier.
