Cylindrical, 7-1/2", 44 cal. barrel with octagonal base, provided with low foresight made of white metal, marked “ADDRESS SAM.L COLT NEW YORK CITY” and stamped “T”. Clean bore, visible rifling, some signs of use and time inside. Smooth six-shot cylinder, featuring a rolled-on engraving depicting the battle between Dragoons and natives (a defect of reproduction), one chamber slightly deformed at the front opening (perhaps after a fall?), legible "W.L. Ormsby Sc. New York", "U.S. DRAGOONS", "COLT'S PATENT" and serial number, marked "P" inside. Working mechanism. Frame marked "COLTS PATENT" and "U.S.". Brass lower band and trigger guard (rounded) and marked "G" and “V”. Brass back band . Areas with pitting. Smooth walnut grip with remains of military inspection stamps. Serial number "18xxx" matching on barrel, cartridge rammer (partial), barrel wedge (partial), cylinder, pin (partial), frame and gripstraps.
