"The Golden Lion" is an adventure novel written by Wilbur Smith, an undisputed master of the genre, and Giles Kristian, an emerging author of great talent. The book tells the story of Hal Courteney, a skilled English adventurer and merchant, in East Africa in the 17th century.
Wilbur Smith , born in Ndola, Northern Rhodesia (now Zambia), on 14 January 1931 and died in Cape Town, South Africa, on 13 November 2021, was a prolific South African writer , famous for his gripping adventure novels set in different historical periods and in various parts of the world.
Smith has written over 40 novels , which have been translated into 37 languages and sold over 130 million copies worldwide.
