Pelé is considered by many to be the greatest footballer of all time. His extraordinary career was marked by numerous victories, records and unforgettable moments, including his legendary performance against Italy in the 1970 FIFA World Cup.
The World Cup held in Mexico was one of the most memorable and celebrated editions of the tournament. Brazil, led by Pelé, was the team to beat and had the goal of defending the title won in 1962.
On June 21, 1970, Brazil faced Italy in the World Cup final. The match was a true football spectacle, with both teams displaying a game of great quality and spectacularity. Pelé's performance Pelé was the great protagonist of that match. Despite having undergone surgery on his meniscus just two months before the tournament, Pelé demonstrated his extraordinary class and innate talent. He scored Brazil's first goal with a powerful and precise header, beating Italian goalkeeper Enrico Albertosi. Then, with a masterful dribble, he eluded three Italian defenders before setting up Jairzinho for Brazil's second goal. The match ended 4-1 to Brazil, with Pelé being one of the absolute protagonists of the tournament, scoring four goals and proving to be the undisputed leader of the team.
