Erling Braut Haaland, (born 21 July 2000 in Leeds) is a Norwegian footballer who plays as a striker for Manchester City and the Norway national team. Currently considered the best centre-forward in the world, he grew up in the youth sector of Bryne, where he made his professional debut, before moving to Molde in 2017, where he played for two seasons. In 2019 he was bought by Salzburg, with whom he won an Austrian championship (2018-2019) and an Austrian Cup (2018-2019). In 2020 he moved to Borussia Dortmund, where he won a German Cup (2020-2021). Two years later he moved to Manchester City, a jersey with which he shattered several records in English football.
On 7 August 2022 he made his Premier League debut, where he scored two goals to win the match at West Ham United's home (0–2). On 27 August, he scored his first hat-trick on English soil, contributing to the 4–2 final victory over Crystal Palace. He repeated his feat on 31 August, scoring three of the six goals with which the Citizens beat Nottingham Forest. On 3 September, thanks to the goal scored in the away draw with Aston Villa (1–1),[70] he reached double figures in the league, while also setting the record for the fewest games served for the purpose (6). Three days later he made his debut with a brace in the UEFA Champions League, helping the team to win the first match played against Sevilla 4–0; thanks to this performance, the Norwegian striker became the youngest player to score 25 goals in the competition (22 years, 1 month and 16 days). On 2 October, he scored his third hat-trick of the season, this time in the Manchester Derby against Manchester United, a match won by the Citizens 6–3. On 15 February, he scored his 26th league goal after just 22 games, equalling the record for goals by a Citizens player set by Sergio Aguero in the 2014–15 season. On 14 March, he scored five goals in the match Manchester City-RB Leipzig (7–0), becoming the third player to score five goals in a UEFA Champions League match (the thirteenth including the European Cup) and the second (after Lionel Messi) to do so in the knockout stages. Four days later, he scored three goals in the 6–0 FA Cup win over Burnley, taking his tally to six hat-tricks this season. On 30 April, with the goal scored in the 1-2 victory at Fulham, he reached the record of 34 goals in the league, equalling former players Andy Cole and Alan Shearer; for the Norwegian it was also the 50th goal of the season. This record was surpassed on 3 May, during the recovery of the twenty-eighth day won 3-0 against West Ham Utd; on that occasion, he scored the goal of 2-0. At the end of his first season with the Citizens he won the league, the national cup and the Champions League, winning the title of top scorer in both the league and the Champions League.
