Claudia Cardinale is one of the most important actresses in the history of cinema and is considered the most important Italian actress to emerge in the 1960s, the only one to achieve international fame comparable to that of Sophia Loren and Gina Lollobrigida. During her career, which began in the mid-1950s, she has acted in a wide range of film genres: from Italian comedy to spaghetti westerns, from dramas to historical films to Hollywood-style films, occasionally working in music, theater and television. She has appeared in more than 150 films, some of which are considered milestones of great auteur cinema.
