Original illustration made by Bernardini for "Piccole anime" by Emma R. Corcos, published in the series La lampada n. 72 by Mondadori in 1926. From the first cartoons, unequivocally cubist with large backgrounds in flat colours, after the 1920s his style developed in the direction of compositions which testify to the authoritative re-appropriation of the line as a fundamental expressive moment. He put this style at the service of over one hundred and sixty volumes in which he revisited all the masterpieces of literature. << An accurate stylist, he was the leader of a notable group of illustrators who then tried, often without luck, to imitate his fresh graphic invention, supported by a very sure hand that allowed him the most generous versatility. >> (Antonio Faeti) Signed.
