Between the end of 1863 and the summer of 1864 something seems to be moving, as demonstrated by Manifesto To the Italians published by Garibaldi in January 1864,
with which he announced the establishment of the unitary Central Committee chaired by Benedetto Cairoli. To whom he wrote on 31 October 1864: «Notify me when I can bring my invalid contingent on the holy cause"; concept reiterated the next day to Clara Emma Collins: «[...] if the Venetians fight and I can benefit I will not
miss them." In the subsequent letters of the Epistolary, however, there are only generic invitations to help the insurgents in the hope that the movement will continue. What Garibaldi ensures is therefore a form of moral support and encouragement, rather than concrete intervention, but his name continues to be usedeven during 1865 as the main spur to action. Moral support also reiterated in this document.
