Venice, Andrea Poletti, 1704. In 4th. Portrait of the author on the frontispiece, that of Cortes and Montezuma all engraved by Sister Isabella Piccini, followed by 5 plates engraved by Alessandro Dalla Via. Contemporary binding in full parchment, handwritten title on the spine, sprayed cuts. 

Specialist Notes

Second Venetian edition of this classic of Spanish travel literature, composed in 1667 and published in Madrid in 1684. The author, secretary of Philip IV, was considered the "cronista mayor de Indias".
