Venice, Giordano Ziletti, 1574. In 4°. 3 parts in 1 volume. With 65 double-page geographical maps, of which 27 dedicated to the ancient world and 38 to the modern world with description on the reverse, several woodcuts and diagrams in the text, several handwritten annotations in the text, restoration on the title page and on the last page, margins of first leaves slightly worn, traces of humidity, woodworm work on the internal margin of some leaves, small hole on the Tabula Europae I, small lack on the margin of Tabula Asiae I and IIII, light abrasion and small stain on the plate of the Nueva Hispania, some stains , slight foxing, light browning, contemporary parchment binding, defects and small losses on the spine and edge of the front plate.
Specialist Notes
Third edition of the first example of a pocket atlas ever printed, with corrections by Giovanni Malombra and the geographical maps used in the Latin edition of 1562. The maps dedicated to the Americas considered the first regional maps of the continent, the Universal Marine Map, it can also be considered the first modern map of the world.
