In 8°, pp. LVI-458-(14) with 450 cartoons of various formats n.t., 29 f.t. plates, 7 portraits and a color map of the Ile de France, all "gravées sur bois" from the drawings of Tony Johannot, Isabey, Paul Huet, Meissonier, etc., 2 detached leaves, slight foxing and redness, contemporary binding mz. leather with corners, title and friezes in gold on the spine, golden fillets on the plates, colored cuts.
Specialist Notes
"On papier de chine" edition with some of the characteristics of the first printing.Edition of great value both for the care of the text and for the typographical appearance. Its publication took about 15 months, from October 1836 to December 1837, and there were several changes during the work that serve to distinguish the various editions.
