Specialist Notes

The Treaty of Saint-Germain-en-Laye, also known as the Treaty of Saint-Germain, was signed at the end of the First World War and established the division of the dissolved Austro-Hungarian Empire and the conditions for the creation of Austrian Republic. The text of the treaty was drawn up in French, English and Italian, but not in German. It was expressly specified that, in the event of disputes, the text in French was authentic; consisted of 381 articles.
