Specialist Notes

One of the best 16th century editions of the famous work by Angelo Gambiglione, born in Arezzo in the early 15th century and died in Ferrara probably in 1461 divided into 90 parts. It includes an infinite number of crimes and a vast case history of the criminal process. It is joined by the main work of Alberto Da Gandino, a well-known jurist, born in Crema between 1235 and 1245, who died after 1310. A profound connoisseur of law and criminal procedure, he occupied an eminent place in jurisprudence. His "Tractatus Maleficiorum" was the first work of that time which dealt with criminal law and procedure as an independent work. This is followed by the work "Super Maleficiis" "published for the first time in Milan in 1505) by the Mantuan jurist  Bonifacius De Vitalinis born around 1320 and died in Avignon after 1388.
