First edition. of this important history of the dawn of printing based on documents (reproduced in facsimile in the 7 plates), in which the author presents the example of Gutenberg who had begun his experiments printing in Strasbourg. The documents were destroyed when the Prussians bombarded Strasbourg in 1870.
