Rome, Ludovico Mirri, 1782-'92. In 2nd. 6 out of 7 volumes, the last one is missing. 608x432mm. Engraved frontispieces, portraits of Pius VI, numerous finely engraved plates, coeval half leather and marbled cardboard binding.

Specialist Notes

A detailed and exhaustive visual documentation of the classical sculptures and reliefs of the Pio-Clementine Museum, now part of the Vatican Museums, which originated at the beginning of the sixteenth century and was greatly expanded at the end of the eighteenth century by Popes Clement XIV and Pius VI. The descriptions are by the prefect of antiquities, Giambattista Visconti, and the director of the Capitoline Museums, Ennio Quirino Visconti.
