Specialist Notes

Rare edition of the famous code, the foundation of all modern civil codes, the result of long meditation on the ideas matured during the century of the Enlightenment, which combines ancient customs and Roman law with the needs of freedom and equality on the separation between civil and ecclesiastical law and on the inviolability of property established during the French Revolution. It was promulgated in 1804 as the “Code Civil” and published in 1807 with the definitive title “Code Napoleon”,  with which it later became the reference model for most of the Civil Codes of the world, including the Italian Civil Code of 1865. First edition compliant with the changes adopted by the Legislative Body on September 3, 1807.
