Specialist Notes

THE MOST COMPLETE AND AUTHENTIC EDITION OF GUICCIARDINI'S HISTORY, before the modern editions. In a specimen of illustrious provenance: the library of the British physicist and chemist Henry Cavendish (1731-1810), considered one of the founders of modern chemistry.
Valuable edition dedicated to Francesco III Duke of Lorraine, conducted with care on the Torrentiniana of 1561 (Florence), religiously followed in everything "except in the spelling", for which "a middle ground" was chosen. Postilles, the notes of Tommaso Porcacchi, a table of the authors and above all a modern Life of Guicciardini, signed by Domenico Maria Manni were then added.
