Naples, former Camilli Cavalli workshop, 1693. In 12°. Allegorical frontispiece engraved in copper designed by Orazio Frezza and engraved by Francesco Grado, and two plates, one of which folded, frontispiece printed in red and black, plate a p. 54 detached, rare foxing, marbled paper binding, paper gusset on the spine, small tears on the hinges, slight signs of wear.

Specialist Notes

First edition of this collection of three unusual texts that trace the origins of masks, wigs and gloves from antiquity to the 17th century. XVII. The large folded plate illustrates the virgin's glove as kept in the Abbey of San Bertino in France.
