First edition. of this important story of the dawn of document-based printing (reproduced in facsimile in the 7 plates), in which the author presents the example of Gutenberg who had begun his experiments by printing in Strasbourg. The documents were destroyed when the Prussians bombed Strasbourg in 1870.
