Raro barometro ideato dall'ammiraglio FitzRoy nella seconda metà del XIX secolo che contiene un bulbo in vetro, chiamato storm glass, riempito con una particolare miscela che permette di prevedere il tempo metereologico tramite l'osservazione dell'aspetto del liquido stesso. Robert FitzRoy (1805 – 1865) fu capitano dal 1831 al 1836 del celebre brigantino HMS Beagle, sulla quale viaggiava Charles Darwin per compiere la sua seconda spedizione intorno al mondo.
