Osvaldo Salas venne in Italia nel 1988 per partecipare ad una sua esposizione fotografica nelle Cinque Terre, ed in quell'occasione viaggiò fotografando città e persone. Gli scatti fatti in Italia vennero presentati nella mostra "Estamppas de Italia", tenutasi a L'Avana nel marzo 1989 presso la Galeria Cubana / Linea y F / El Vedado.
