Barcelona, 1872-1876. In 2nd. Tomes II and III (volume I is missing). Volume II: (January 17, 1872 - October 4, 1873) from n. 1 to 84; Volume III (1 November 1873 - 3 March 1876) from n. 1 to 22, with numerous color lithographs in the text, most of which are double-page spread, before p. of n. 36 of tome II slightly faded, small tear without loss to the second card of n. 4 of 7 March 1874, rare and light halos, some sporadic flowering, 20th century binding. in red morocco with title and friezes embossed in gold on the smooth spine, slight defects.

Specialist Notes

Collection of publications from 1872 to 1876 of the weekly satirical magazines La Flaca, La Madeja Politics, La Carcajada, El Lio. Each publication consists of a bifolium and a double page color lithograph. Republican magazine strongly critical of the government and the church, promoter of press freedom which and for this reason suffered strong censorship by the government and had to change its name frequently. Tomás Padró y Pedret (1840-1877), one of the greatest satirical artists of the period, collaborated as illustrator.
