In folio. with 8 folded copper-engraved out-of-text plates, allegorical vignette on the title page, figurative drop caps, some redness and browning, woodworm holes, one of the plates with several tears, period cardboard binding, tears on the spine. Ownership note in the half-title.

The work was fundamental not only for the precious collection and criticism of the sources, but for explicitly posing the objective of the history of a volcano not as a succession of external phenomena, but as the process of its creation through those phenomena.
