Made of shibuichi, with a chiseled decoration signed Somin of the Yokoya school. Maru gata, kaku mimi depicting a sage, maybe the Dharma, with the characteristic features of Somin's hand. Middle Edo period, circa 1700. In Kiri box. Yokoya Somin was the son of Yokoya Soyo, founder of the Yokoya school and student of Goto Injo. Somin himself created the iebori. Born in Edo in 1670, he is one of the most important characters in the world of kodogu.
