Original title page made by Battaglia for "Olimpia", from the story by E.T.A. Hoffmann, published in Linus n. 62 in 1970. An exemplary page that fully embodies the oppressive, mysterious and occult atmosphere typical of the Gothic genre of those years. Thanks to the bitumen black of his pen and the grooves traced by the blade, Battaglia manages to immerse the reader in one of Hoffmann's most disturbing stories; all the elements are there: the alchemic cabinet of Professor Spallanzani, the miasmas of the smoke released by dozens of chimneys, the restlessness on the face of the young Natanaele... Battaglia is a master in choosing the shots and in creating terrifying atmospheres. Watercolored on the back by his wife Laura De Vescovi. Posting holes in the upper corners. Signed.
