Many factors can influence the judgment of the photographs you see in this catalog. In some cases, personal taste prevails and makes a choice completely independent of other factors. In other cases, it is the name and fame of the author that drives a collector to desire a piece. Here is where new problems arise. Some photographers are very well known and appreciated, as they deserve to be, while others enjoy lesser fame and for this reason, are perhaps looked at with different attention.

The reason why at Finarte, we have always produced a catalog raisonné, in which we include not only the indispensable technical notations - the author's name, title, date, production technique, and so on - but also equally important historical, aesthetic, and expressive notations, lies precisely in this: the desire to share with our interlocutors our passion for photography, which inevitably passes through the knowledge of factors that place it within a broader cultural and artistic context.
