Specialist Notes

Presented at the Brera National Exhibition in 1923 (Catalogue of the National Art Exhibition, Milan, October-December 1923, Room XI, p. 39), the central compartment of the triptych, connotes the lesson of the real social advocated by Lazzaro Pasini. We know this triptych through a sketch recently passed on the antiques market which includes two side panels with simple vegetation and the large panel – the one now in vision – with pointillist accents depicting the hearse heading towards the last journey.A complex painter, the Emilian Pasini, who touched various movements, from symbolism to realism, from social realism to a timid divisionism always with a very personal style, which decreed his success especially between the 1910s and 2020s .
