of circular form with pierced sides imitating wicker weave, upper lobed profile, one decorated with baroque fruit motif (d cm 17.8) (restorations), the other one with blanser motif (d cm 18) (defects)

Specialist Notes

The blanser motif, consisting of three merged flowers from which moves a long, thin stem of small flowers and leaves, is influenced by the oriental “plum blossom” motifs of Japanese Kakiemon porcelain and Chinese reproductions. It has affinities with the similar coeval Pesaro decoration, the ticchio of the Casali and Calegari manufacture.
R. Ausenda (AA.VV., La Ceramica degli Antonibon, exhibition catalog, Milan 1990, p. 78) proposes Nove as the first center of elaboration of this decoration, due to the presence of an Antonibon fondaco in Pesaro.
