Slightly curved, single-and short false-edged blade, with three-quarter of fuller. Bearing in the centre, inside the fuller, remains of engraving. On the right side remains of cartouche "NATAL CARABINEERS" within racemes; at the tang brass mark within a six-pointed star. On the left side remains of the monogram surmounted by the royal crown, within racemes. Iron hilt with three loop-guards. Fish-skin grip with metal wire binding. Long, partially checkered cap. Some pitting. Iron scabbard with two lugs and with brass mouthpiece.
