dating: Period (1603-1867) provenance: Japan, Nagasa (length 37.5 cm) with hada and hamon not visible, needs cleaning, copper habaki. Nakago mei: Fujiwara Kuni Yoshi Tsukurukore with a mekugi-ana. Koshirae with copper tsuba engraved with floral motifs. Beautiful fuchi-kashira in shakudo decorated in high relief with fishermen, clouds and waves partially gilded on a dark background. Complete with black silk menuki and tsuka. Saya made of black lacquered wood. Kogatana-mei with shakudo kozuka depicting a dragon in high relief. The signature may be an ancient imitation (gimei). Middle Edo period. length 56.5 cm.
